ADVOCACY

WIO has been advocating for LGBTIQA+ Tasmanians for over 25 years, providing services state-wide including advisory roles, research, and policy. We have a number of formal and informal partnerships with organisations and groups in Tasmania.

WIO is funded to provide advice and support to the State Government on LGBTIQA+ issues and needs, holding the co-chair position on the Whole-of-Government LGBTIQA+ Reference Group, and membership in all other government reference groups.

WIO holds a membership in the following Tasmanian Government LGBTIQA+ Reference/Working Groups:

  • Whole of Government LGBTIQA+ Reference Group (co-Chair role)

  • Department of Health LGBTIQA+ Reference Group

  • Department of Police, Fire & Emergency Services LGBTIQA+ Reference Group

  • Department for Education, Children & Young People LGBTIQA+ Education Working group

  • Department of Justice LGBTIQA+ Reference Group
